Tips To Get Rid Of Strawberry Legs

STRAWBERRY LEGS! Didn’t get the memo that fruits can be used to describe body parts too? Well, ready to know all about it? “Legs” go!

“Strawberry legs” is a term used to describe the appearance of tiny dark bumpy dots on the skin. These black dots are hair follicles, and they resemble the seeds on a strawberry, hence the term. Although they’re called strawberry legs, they can appear literally anywhere-be it your thighs, arms, or back!

What Causes Strawberry Legs?

In most cases, having strawberry legs is completely harmless, and can be treated just by tweaking your self-care routine slightly! It is caused by clogged pores, overly dry skin, enlarged hair follicles, shaving incorrectly or using an old razer, overgrowth of bacteria, and hyperpigmentation caused by heat & sweat; all of which are reason enough to make the appearance of hair follicles look darker than usual.

Has your patience reached its last STRAW(berry)? Worry not. We have some tips & tricks for you!

How To Get Rid Of Strawberry Legs?

1. An Exfoliation Regime Is “Berry” Important!
Exfoliating the skin regularly can help keep those dark pores at bay and completely get rid of strawberry legs! A deeply exfoliating body scrub can help remove dirt & oil trapped in the follicles, thus reducing the appearance of these bumps on the skin. A good scrubbing routine helps unclog pores, refine & polish skin, slough off dead skin cells, help prevent ingrown hair and MUST be followed to a T! It’s a plus-plus if you go for a gentle body scrub that exfoliates & moisturizes all at once.

    2. Some Shaving Tips That You CANNOT Miss!
We know, shaving is already QUITE the task (eye roll :P) and following a “hair removal regime” is not something a lot of us would be fans of, but trust us, you must know the dos & don’ts of shaving. First things first, use a good quality razor that won’t cause ingrown hair. Before shaving your body hair, you need to ensure that you cleanse your skin with a moisturizing body wash (shower gel or shower cream) to ease the process and prevent any inflammation & irritation. This provides a clean, smooth shave as it softens the hair before shaving. This must be followed up with a deeply exfoliating body scrub–as it helps unclog pores & remove the dirt trapped in your hair follicles. Implement proper shaving techniques like shaving in the direction of hair growth, not shaving over the same area over & over again and DEFINITELY changing razors at regular intervals.

    3. Try Your Luck With Hair Removal Methods Other Than Shaving
If shaving is your go-to method of hair removal & your struggle with strawberry legs & razor bumps is real, then you may want to switch things up a bit. Waxing or using an epilator to remove body hair ensures that the hair is removed from the root, so the hair follicle is completely taken out, and hence leads to no ingrown hair–thus minimizing the appearance of strawberry legs.

    4. Moisturize. Moisturize. MOISTURIZE!
Yes, all you oily skin cuties too! Moisturization is one of the most crucial steps for your self-care checklist. You must never go a day without moisturizing your body with a nourishing body oil, butter, or lotion, as it helps get rid of dry & flaky skin. Keeping your skin well-hydrated & moisturized also helps shedding off dead cells naturally. Slather on a body moisturizer right after steppin’ out of the shower to help absorb every bit of the moisture & lock it in nice and good!

In some cases, the appearance of strawberry legs/bumpy dark spots could be something serious too, so, consulting with a dermatologist is recommended. If the little dots on your legs don't appear to be raised or inflamed, there’s most likely nothing you need to worry about!

Sooo, cuties, ready to trade in strawberry legs for smooth skin? :D
