Face mist or toner? What's the difference?

Toner Vs Facemist

So this summer brought with it the launch of our brand new face mist range. But that also brought in a lot of questions on toners and mists. We hate when you lovelies aren't sure which product to pick, so we thought we'd break it down for you- what are toners and face mists, how to use them, and why you need both.

What is toner?

Toners have two main purposes- to make skin firmer and shrink pores, and to bring skin pH "back in line" after the (sometimes harsh) cleansing process. Not just that, we believe it’s the first step towards skin repair, to give skin anti-oxidants and nutrients, and to give a "goodness treat" to the skin so that it stays youthful, firm and clear.

How is toner used?

Use a suitable toner once you've washed your face. Put a small amount on a cotton pad and gently apply across your face (do not rub the toner across your face). Let it air-dry for a while, and follow-up with your favourite moisturizer.

Now, on to face mists.

What is face mist?

Face mist rehydrates and moisturizes your skin with calming ingredients, as well as provides nourishment- a savior when you spend time outdoors or in air-conditioned environments. It can even add a hint of freshness to your makeup (bye-bye searching for a ladies' room!) What’s not to love?

How is face mist used?

Hold the bottle of mist about 6-8 inches away from your face and spray 2-3 times. Air-dry for a minute & feel your skin absorb all the goodness!

Face mist or toner? What's the difference?

Okay. But why do I need both?

Well, because they are all part of the great circle of life. Just kidding. Essentially, toners clean your skin and prepare it for moisturization, whereas face mists instantly and effortlessly freshen you up at any time of the day.

As you can see, they serve different purposes.

Can I use face mist instead of toner or vice-versa?

Nope, shortcuts like dabbing your face mist across your face won't have the same impact as using a toner before you moisturize. Your patience with finding the right products and using them regularly as part of your skincare regime will protect your skin in the long term.

Hope that cleared up toners and face mists for you. Do you know of more ways they are different or useful? Any further questions? Sound off in the comments below!
