Acne-fighters club: the lesser-known stars

 Acne-Fighters Club: The Lesser-Known Stars

Green tea. Tea tree. Neem. These are the usual superstars in many an acne product's ingredient line-up. However, there are other equally amazing, lesser-known botanical acne-fighters you can make friends with. Here's 5 of them - and ways to get them into your acne management routine!

1. Witch Hazel

Witch Hazel

What is it?

Witch hazel is a shrub whose twigs, barks and leaves contain natural salicylic acid.

What does it do?

This acne-fighter kills bacteria and shrinks pores.

2. Marshmallow Root

Marshmallow Plant

What is it?

As the name suggests, it is the root of the marshmallow plant, which is a herb native to Europe, Western Asia and North America.

What does it do?

Marshmallow root reduces inflammation and relieves redness and irritation.

3. Cinnamon Bark

Cinnamon

What is it?

Yup. You got it right! It’s a spice obtained from the bark of the well-known cinnamon tree.

What does it do?

Cinnamon bark fights acne-causing bacteria such as Staphylococcus epidermidis

4. Strawberry Seed

Strawberry

What is it?

Easy again! It’s the seed obtained from strawberry fruit 😊

What does it do?

Strawberry seed helps increase your skin’s ceramide production (ceramides, btw, make up your skin’s natural barrier against pollution, dust and irritants).

5. Satsuma

Satsuma

What is it?

Satsuma is a seedless, Vitamin C-rich fruit from the mandarin orange family.

What does it do?

This seedless wonder detoxifies and moisturizes the skin.

How do I get them in my routine?
